How long does a Swim meet last?
That depends….Usually meets are finished between 10 and 11 PM. It depends on the size of the 2 competing teams. Also, the meet will be delayed if we are asked to clear the pool because of lightning in the area. We may ask you to clear the pool deck and sit in your car… this DOES NOT MEAN GO HOME! Unless instructed to do so directly by a coach or swim coordinator.
Your child’s events
A swimmer can be entered in a maximum of three (3) individual events plus only one (1) medley relay and only one (1) freestyle relay – to swim in more than allowed results in a rules infraction.
- A swimmer is allowed to ‘Swim up' one age group for individual events. If a swimmer 'swims up' in an individual event, then that swimmer MUST ‘Swim up' for all individual events in that meet.
- Relays will be set up with “And Under” categories. If a swimmer ‘swims up’ in a relay event, that swimmer is not required to ‘Swim up’ for individual events.
- Relay participation parameters:
- A swimmer is allowed to swim in any relay above or equal to their age. For example, a 9-year-old swimmer may swim in the 10 and under relay, 12 and under, 13 and under, and so on. However, the 9-year-old is ineligible to swim in the 8 and under and 6 and under relays.
- A swimmer is only allowed to swim in one (1) Medley and one (1) Freestyle relay.
